Coming soon: a kotegaeshi trick

There were only two of us at practice tonight, but we managed to make some exciting discoveries. After playing a little with Kono sensei’s version of ikkyo we attempted to break down the “runaround” kuzushiwaza in the same way we broke down the other kuzushiwaza. We made some interesting discoveries, but we weren’t able to make the techniques disappear in the same way that some of the other kuzushiwaza did.

We then moved on to kotegaeshi. Inspired by something I had seen Toby Threadgill of Takamura-ha Shindo Yoshin-ryu do, I wanted to see how one might connect to and throw an uke whose stiff wrist was preventing a standard kotegaeshi. We made some very interesting discoveries that I will try to record on Wednesday.

    Hmm is anyone else experiencing issues with the images on this blog loading? Iím trying to discover out if its a issue on my end or if itís the blog. Any feed-back would be greatly appreciated.
